I guess the problem is that Gradle doesn't have any metadata for the
artifacts in the lib directory. Hence it doesn't know their group name, and
they will never be equal to an artifact for which the group name is known
(e.g. "commons-codec:commons-codec:1.4"). You should be able to solve this
by declaring a flatDir repository and listing the artifacts explicitly in
the dependencies section (including their group names of course).
