Cheers for the quick patch. 

You are right, the Cargo Deployer actually failed when trying to verify the 
certificates, which are self-signed for our internal servers.

Caused by: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building 
failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to 
find valid certification path to requested target
        at 
com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.X509TrustManagerImpl.validate(X509TrustManagerImpl.java:126)

Perhaps i'll spend a Friday night patching the deployer :)

Rolf,

I added the property cargo.protocol and pushed out a new version of the
plugin. Give it a shot. However, it might not work for Jetty due to 
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CARGO-977 CARGO-977 .
