Talking for myself here (iv been writing groovy for couple of years now),

There are a lot of features that id like to use when developing plug-ins,
couple of features I set my eyes on:

* Native json support
* New AST transformation
* Better DSL support

BTW I did find that you can use groovy 1.8 for your build scripts but its
not officially supported
