again, the buildin clean task should work without any custom tweaks. If
not, I ask you to post the problems you get here so we can get any
issues with the clean task fixed. Personally I never encountered
problems on it.

It is. I put that block of code inside doLast {} and now everything works.
I haven't seen any problem with the :clean task so far, but I've been told
by others that it hasn't always worked for them, and that I should force it
to delete the build dir to make sure I don't end up with some inconsistent
state.
