The reference to "help text" that you see within index.html is the mechanism used to display an instructional message when additional credentials are being requested after the first set of credentials has already been submitted (the handling of an insufficient credentials error). Examples of this would be multi-factor authentication and the password reset mechanism used by the database auth. - Mike
