Hi Chris, I have the same issue...
I have been running version 0.9.14 with LDAP integration for about 2 years now and it has been fine, However I have hit the same issues trying to get version 1.1.0 working... Check your catalina file to ensure that the LDAP module is infact being loaded, it currently is not for me and I cannot find out why.
