When researching the issues I was having installing to the Pi I did run across some reports of poor FreeRDP2 performance, separate to Guacamole.

There were several suggestions on switches to use that appeared to improve. Whether or not it may be possible to incorporate with Guacamole is another question but this thread in particular may be of some use https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/issues/5571 if you wanted to investigate further. Also I expect a Pi4 would be better than earlier models?

As to the issue around the latest build of FreeRDP and the Jira ticket for updating Guacamole to address this, I should have mentioned that this isn't specific to the Pi. It will affect any such build I believe.

My experience with Guacamole on RPi is that performance is laggy compared to x86.

        So I thought I'd try compiling freerdp from source and have
        another go.

        Unfortunately it still won't work as is - this time I suspect
        'cos it compiles as freerdp3 and guacamole:

            libfreerdp-client3.so.3 -> libfreerdp-client3.so.3.0.0
            libfreerdp3.so.3 -> libfreerdp3.so.3.0.0

        There is a Jira ticket out for this already
        (https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GUACAMOLE-1026), so I
        expect it will be sorted in time.

            I installed Buster on a Pi and can install libfreerdp2-2.

            I've not carried on to complete a Guacamole install so
            can't confirm it works, but you might want give it a try?

                        Hi,

                        it's been a day now that I'm trying to
                        compile guacamole with FreeRDP support but
                        regardles of the many guides followed and
                        webpage that explain how add FreeRDP support
                        whatever package I install ./configure always
                        tell me that FreeRDP won't be available.

                    Have you tried 'freerdp2-dev', as recommended by
                    this web page?

https://guacamole.apache.org/doc/gug/installing-guacamole.html#optional-dependencies

                Yes I did and it was the first thing that came into
                my mind, maybe I'm missing other packages?

                Alex

    Many thanks Ivan for your feedback.

    So for you at the moment the only option is 0.9.14,
    highest version that makes use of Freerdp 1.x ?
    I moved from raspbian stretch to buster because I thought that
    for Guacamole I would need Freerdp2 :-) now I may be stuck.

    Thanks,

    Alex
