UPDATE: I turned off Auto-correction in Settings > Device > Keyboard > Change 
input settings and the issue seems to have subsided. I think it's very likely 
that it was ChromeOS' auto-correct feature intercepting my input and causing 
this issue.


I'll respond back if anything changes. :)
