I do because on the local host the only person who could intercept said
communications is root and if someone already has root it's moot, behond that
hashes are sent not plain-text passwords.

If you are talking about NIS as in YP (Yellow Pages) you do not want to do
that, the communications for authentication is not encrypted.
You could use MySQL JDBC extension and MFA, however if this is public facing
MFA is almost a must.

I'm toying with some usecases I would like to see in Guacamole:
1. SPICE support, might enable a basic VDI usecase
2. IPMI SOL support, ability to set remote serial console to server
fleet from within Guacamole, my preferred access when everything goes
wrong. Power management would be a nice addition.
3. Guacamole CLI client: I would like to be able to access remote
servers using CLI but proxying through guacamole-client endpoints
(with RBAC, accounting, etc)
I was thinking that maybe Redfish is a better approach than #2, still
not researched. Actual GUI is most probably non-standard and vendor
specific to the BMC implementation (iDRAC vs iLO vs XClarity).
Are those of any interest?, looking for hints on what to prioritize.
