As the path is correct in these cases, there must be something else
preventing the upload from succeeding. My first guess would be
permissions, but the SSH server logs may have specifics on what is
failing.

Is it possible that you're only using a recent build of
guacamole-client, and not guacamole-server, thus the new SFTP root
directory parameter is being ignored?
