OK thank you very much. I created the folder first on HDFS
hadoop fs -mkdir -p /data/bigdatabench/Text_datagen/data-MicroBenchmarks/in
then used '-put' option. It is now working. Regards,

called /data/bigdatabench/Text_datagen/data-MicroBenchmarks/in can
you do hdfs dfs –ls /data/bigdatabench/Text_datagen/data-MicroBenchmarks/in
and see the output For example there should one for hive similar to below
hdfs dfs -ls /user/hiveound 1 itemsdrwxr-xr-x - hduser supergroup 0
