Subject: Re: How to enable/disable ORCA CBO?

WARNING - External email; exercise caution
If you build hawq with the option --enable-orca, then the default optimizer is
orca, otherwise the legacy planner.

You could use "show optimizer;" in psql or "hawq config -s optimizer" in
terminal to check the value. If the value is "on" then orca, otherwise legacy
planner.

➜  hawq_devel :  psql -d postgres
psql (8.2.15)
Type "help" for help.

postgres=# show optimizer;
 optimizer
-----------
 off
(1 row)

postgres=# \q
➜  hawq_devel hawq config -s optimizer
GUC : optimizer
Value : off

Thanks.

Hi,

What is default optimizer in Hawq and how to check its value?
What setting controls the optimizer in HAWQ?
