I think I've got the problem:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/hbase/trunk is okay, while
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/hbase is not, checking out of which would
still encounter a similar problem:

"svn: REPORT of '/repos/asf/!svn/vcc/default': Compressed response was
truncated (http://svn.apache.org)"
