Thanks,
I love him in Dr. Strangelove. That's how I would like to go out!

Almost as soon as I hit the send button I realized that I could just look at
the provided Filters, my bad.

Slim Pickens was one of my favorite movie stars:

Your best bet would be study of the existing filters --
http://people.apache.org/~stack/hbase-0.90.0-candidate-1/docs/xref/org/apache/hadoop/hbase/filter/package-summary.html
-- and filter unit tests. What filter developers always forget to do
is add a code for their filter to HBaseObjectWritables -- look
hereabouts
http://people.apache.org/~stack/hbase-0.90.0-candidate-1/docs/xref/org/apache/hadoop/hbase/io/HbaseObjectWritable.html#166
-- and it stumps them a while because failure mode is w/o descriptive
error (Enable DEBUG on org.apache.hadoop.ipc.HBaseServer if you find
yourself in situation where nothing works and all is failing silently
-- this will emit ipc logging). That said, the change to HOW may not
be needed any more given recent changes.

Good luck,
St.Ack
