Yes, there are good facets to both options (Embedded and Separate Cluster).
We can imagine the user would decide via
-Dhbase.book.cluster=embedded/url which option to run, with a default
being one of both.
But this asks some refactoring (and related discussions) on the current
implementation. Github functions allows fork/pull, and I'm ready to help
for it.
It really depends how Lars sees the thing and how close we are from the
book release.
