Two points about your blog post: 1. What exactly is incompatible with a 0.20.203 mix? What error made you think so? 2. Both 0.20.2 and 0.20.203 do not have HDFS append/sync features, the latter of which HBase uses for its WAL if available (for reliability). Hence using that configuration "dfs.support.append" does not make any impact on these versions.
