If you look at KeyValue, you would see the following:
public KeyValue(final byte[] row, final byte[] family,
final byte[] qualifier, final long timestamp, Type type) {
this(row, family, qualifier, timestamp, type, null);
}
Note the last parameter, null, is for value.
