Nicolas, Thank you. It's really JVM bug (Java 6/7) and we fixed it by change of... HBase jar file. It happens only on Solaris 64 bit. We would like to make our fixe permanent for future HBase releases. Do you have an idea how to do it?

You may want to try the very last jvm on your platform (it's unlikely to work), as well as the jdk 1.6 (it could work). If none of these work for you, the only solution I see is to make the use of "unsafe" configurable in HBase to workaround this jvm bug...
