Hi, We're not experts on Aurora/Marathon, but my understanding is that these are basically meta-frameworks on Mesos that allow launching and managing arbitrary jobs. Helix is not really a launcher at its core, but rather a logical framework that allows you to take running instances of your system, and essentially tell them what to do. For instance, we can tell a database storage node which partitions it hosts, and whether or not it is a master or slave for those partitions. Or we can load balance queue consumers by telling each consumer which queue(s) it should be consuming from.
I should note that we have also done some work to allow launching Helix participants on YARN algorithmically, and we have a task framework that can run ad-hoc jobs on those containers, so there's definitely some overlap.
