I tried running Hive 0.11 against CDH 4.3 successfully. I just downloaded the tarball from the site and it worked so I'm afraid I can't help you much because it sounds like your problem occurs much earlier.
We ran into two issues later: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-4619 and https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-4003 The first we could only get around by recompiling Hive with the patch and the second can be worked around by doing: -- Workaround for https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-4003 SET yarn.resourcemanager.address="foobar"; Cheers, Lars On Sun, Jul 21, 2013 at 8:15 AM, Srinivas Surasani <hivehadooplearn...@gmail.com> wrote: > Can you share your job logs ? > > Regards, > Srinivas Surasani > > > On Mon, Jul 15, 2013 at 6:32 PM, Jim Colestock <j...@ramblingredneck.com> > wrote: >> >> Hello All, >> >> Has anyone been successful at running hive 0.11 with Cloudera CDH 4.3? >> >> I've been able to get hive to connect to my metadb (which is in Postgres). >> Verified by doing a show tables..
