I shutdown all and rebooted the Linux host. Beeline is the CLI client that is supported to work with HiveServer2. You can start HiveServer2 like this: hive --service hiveserver2 and then connect to it using beeline. There is one connection from local beeline (see above, Ip address 50.140.197.216) So the connections are established. Just it never gets to the prompt! Any ideas appreciated.
