In a way yes, but if beeline is available in spark/bin and I can run hiveserver2, doesn't that mean hive is part of spark? Where should I go and ask questions then? The spark people tell me to ask the hive user group and now it seems that you are implying it is a spark issue..
The end goal is to register tables and views registered from spark into the hive metastore.
