Up to MR3 version 1.2, Hive-MR3 supported Hive 3.1.2 on Hadoop 2.7+. From MR3 version 1.3 on, we did not release distributions for Hadoop 2.7+ because all use cases in production were using Hadoop 3+. (However it's still easy for us to build a distribution for Hadoop 2.7+.)
