Few days back I also had the same query.From this forum only i got to know that 
4 5 sec is usual time for a client node to start up.In future it would be 
reduced to 1 2 sec.

like free CPU cycles. How fast is your network? However the size of the
cluster also matters since "new node joining" message generated while the
new client is joining the cluster has to travel around the whole cluster
ring before allowing the client to join.

Finally, what is the reason why you need such significant number of clients,
what is your use case?
