I installed and use  the devStack recently.

zones = nova.getApi().getConfiguredZones() <== will return a set of
regions, not availability zones!!!

Example : "RegionA", not "nova".

If you look at the nova extensions, there is a "availability-zone" extensions.

I don't think this is what is involved under the hood when you call
nova.getApi().getConfiguredZones()
