This feature works fine for me.
Try to do the following:
- find the following section in jmeter.properties;
#---------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Logging Configuration
#---------------------------------------------------------------------------
.........
.........
- Scroll down and uncomment string;
*log_file=*
- Save file and start jmeter;
