Halo stream, these features (jpa & transaction) are parts of Apache Aries. They install a) A JTA transaction manager as an OSGi service. b) Aries bundles & services required for running JPA under OSGi.

Karaf provides these new enterprise features which make a lot easier running such applications on karaf.
