Sigh - I figured it out :). I was checking for additional exports of org.osgi.service.http in the Karaf container and could only find one, so I was confused as to how having different versions of the class was even possible. I didn't think to check the WAR files. It turns out they were embedding org.osgi.compendium and, therefore, org.osgi.service.http.
