did you guy look at my branch yet? I was able to simply the communications (switched it to hazelcast executors, but same cellar inface pretty much), fix the errant tests and fixed up the code so all the tests run and pass... there are I'm sure a few loose enfs still to tie up, but I think I made some valuable improvements and it does startup and run under karaf 3.0 (I switched the tests to the latest of everything).... I was hoping all my work would have been able to give you a boost towards a 3.0 release.... I hope my work ends up being valuable! I'm sure that it will contain some bugs from the refactorings and code change proposals I added.
