Don't forget you can use regular maven plugins to allow you to manipulate or populate something in the karaf distro that the karaf-maven-plugin doesn't have or doesn't do quite how you want. The plugin has come a long way but if you get stuck, don't forget you may be able to do what you need another way to keep moving while you ask if there is a proper way to do it.
