Strange, I just verified it with a vagrant centos-6.4 box. Fresh install of JDK 8 from oracle, and downloaded Karaf 3.0.3 from within this box. Karaf 3.0.3 starts nicely. Seems to be something on your box then.
Anything else you maybe did change beforehand?
