If you do not change the server in production at runtime then I recommend
the karaf custom distribution way.
The name sounds daunting maybe but it is much easier than it seems.
The result is a single deployment unit tar.gz or zip that you simply unpack
on your system and run. It contains karaf and your bundles and auto starts
your needed features.
