Thanks for your help.
I changed the class path to hardcode the lib jars and the build went fine.
As for why translate is missing I'm not sure. My hosted environment is a
little to strictly controled and it probably means tr has not been installed
/installed properly.
See what they have to say in the morning

probably, yes. so it looks like redhat 7.2 does not have tr?
