Hi!
I'm a Cocoon veteran, but a Lenya newbie. After nearly a year of
lurking and dipping my toe in the water every so often, I'm ready to
take the plunge and start making Lenya sites. So, I'd be grateful for
any help, starting with a few random questions... :-) Please feel free
to refer me to any Wiki pages or other relevant sources that I may have
missed... :-)
1) Editors
From what I gather, it's like this...
Mozfox: BXE/Bitflux or Kupu
IE: Kupu
Anything else, e.g. Safari: eff U! :-)
â Is this right?
â pros/cons (for Mozfox, I guess, if that's the only plaform where you
have a choice)?
- ...and could I have found that info on the Wiki or somewhere else if
I'd known where to look?
- http://bxe.oscom.org/demo talks about an "old", "quite stable but not
maintained anymore" version of the editor, and also a "latest and
greatest Next Generation" version with "missing stuff and a lot of known
bugs", and sends you off to http://wiki.bitfluxeditor.org/ if you want
to find out about it. Which verision does Lenya use?
- From the demos it looks like I can choose my editor from a drop-down
whenever I edit... is there a preferences page where the user can "set
and forget" their choice of editors? (And since apparently on all but
Mozfox there is no choice... and for some browsers, no editor!... should
Lenya be a little smarter that way? :-)
2) 1.4
How close is it to being ready for prime time?
3) Starting from scratch, importing content
http://wiki.apache.org/lenya/OverviewGettingStarted has a section
"Starting from scratch" for "1.4-dev". Can I also "start from scratch"
with 1.2.3?
Or alternatively (maybe), is there a way to build Lenya with an empty
"default" publication, i.e. without the default content?
http://wiki.apache.org/cocoon-lenya/HowToContentImport seems like it's
glossing over a little... for instance, looking in the sample default/
publication, it looks like there is something special about
content/index/. Please explain! :-)
I wasn't sure about the local etiquette on the Lenya wiki, so instead of
asking my questions by making edits there, I thought I'd ask here
first. I'll be glad to help improve the Wiki once I know a little
bit... :-)
4) Losing the ".html"
I'm seriously not a fan of ".html" bunged onto the end of page URLs.
I've just never done it that way, and I don't care for it. How
hard-wired into Lenya is this convention? If I don't want it, is it
really just as easy as tweaking the sitemap?
