I haven't tried the import script in 1.4. I would imagine that it would
need some tweaking.
You might want to take a look at webDav in 1.4. It needs some work, but
I have been using it to drop new documents into my publication (using xp
web folders). I think I was able to upload new documents with cadaver
as well. The nice thing about webDav is that it validates as it uploads.
