This is like sending an email message that the email system is down. You posted to subscribers that you must subscribe before posting. Non-subscriber posters will not see this post. A better method is an auto-response to the first post from a non-subscriber: "Thank you for contacting a Lenya Mailing List. We allow only 2 posts from non-subscribers. Please subscribe by: - Reply to this memo with the Subject "Subscribe' - Use this Address in a web browser: [URL] Welcome, The Lenya Team" If a second memo is received from a non-subscriber, post the memo, add the email address to a filter, and send another auto-response: "We have received the maximum 2 posts to the Lenya Mailing Lists from this unsubscribed email address. Additional memos from this email address will be deleted without posting. Please subscribe by: - Reply to this memo with the Subject "Subscribe' - Use this Address in a web browser: [URL] Thank you, The Lenya Team" When they do subscribe, remove their address from the filter. With this, new subscribers are warned without hoping they found this post in the archives.
