you get the sitemap logs already within the log4j logs ;-)
but I guess you want to separate them from the rest.
Have you taken a look at cocoon.xconf resp. web.xml?

IIRC this is configured within cocoon.xconf or web.xml that everything
goes into log4j.log ..
