ATM we use the wrapper to be able to run Jetty/Lenya as a service under Windows (which can be started and stopped like any other Windows service) and to get a logfile of the JVM console. Right now we do not monitor the wrapper process, but iiuc the wrapper does monitor the JVM. We just wanted a more server-like solution than the standard Windows lenya.bat running in a console and having a user logged in all the time.
