I bet this is the problem: the reference node gets deleted. I one of solving it would be not to delete the ref node at all. The other way is as you have outlined here, I'm just not sure that there's a method setReferenceNode().... (at least could not find it). Also - where is Marko? It would be great to have your opinion on whats happening from the point of view of blueprints neo4j impl.
