Also I have an example project at my github: https://github.com/adrianoalmeida7/neo4j-vraptor-example where I integrate Neo4j with a webframework other than SpringMVC (in this case, VRaptor). I also break some of the design guidelines suggested by the docs, so my models are decoupled from the Neo4J API.
It lacks some functionality and UI improvement, but the majority of the graph traversals are there. Hope it can be helpful to you.
