The timeline depends on the rate of community contributions, so that is hard to determine. I would hope that we can get 4.8.0 out of beta in the next 12 months, but I can't say for sure. It has been about a year since our last beta release, as an example. (That also means we haven't had breaking changes in a year, if that is how you're measuring beta risk.)
If your for-profit organization is going to depend on our library, we would appreciate the support of helping to contribute back some development effort to help get the release across the finish line.
