I'm not sure what you will need it for, but Maven can automatically
append a unique timestamp to the file built using
  <distributionManagement>
    <repository>
      <uniqueVersion>true</uniqueVersion>
      ...
    </repository>
  <distributionManagement>
in your pom.xml.

If that is not enough, googling brought
http://commons.ucalgary.ca/projects/maven-buildnumber-plugin/howto.html
to my attention ;)
