It does take some time to download central repository index. You can watch progress in Progress view and also see status in Maven console. In case it reports a error, more details can be found in the Error Log view.

There been several reports that repository index can't be updated. I'll look at it more closely tomorrow, but in a mean time you can try to delete content of <workspace>\.metadata\.plugins\org.maven.ide.eclipse\nexus\central\ folder while Eclipse is not running, then on startup m2eclipse should download it again.

 Eugene

I'm using the latest dev version of m2eclipse as you recommended.

I've installed the "Maven Central Repository Index" plugin.

When I navigate to the Maven Indexes view, and right click central and
hit update index, eclipse reports that it is updating it but nothing
happens.
There is no + to the left of central (like there is for local).

When I right click and edit the repository index, the details are as follows:

Repository URL: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/

Repository Id: central

Index Update URL: (blank)

Is this because the index update URL is blank? why does this not come
with a default value when the maven central repository index plugin is
installed?

Cheers
Murray
