The new 0.9.4.x build is now working as expected, thank you. I had to delete 
and re-add the central repository from Maven Indexes view, after that the index 
from the central repository had been downloaded.

  We finally nailed down issue in the index updater and posted new 
0.9.4.x build to the dev update site at 
http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/update-dev/

  After installing new version, you may have to delete repository from 
the "Maven Indexes" view and add it again. That should clear stale 
timestamp that was preventing index update.

  Please let us know if you still can't update index.
