Well, maybe you should provide more info. What version of Eclipse, what version of the plugin? Any output in the maven console when the dependencies are being updated? Maybe you are experiencing network errors or whatever?
Or if you really hate the plugin (which isn't really constructive is it?) you could stop using it :) I'm using the plugin in combination with RAD 7 every day and sometimes I experience issues with it, but most of the time those issues are fixable. Inconvenient, but fixable.
