Nope. That is an extension for WTP XML editor. It does not create a new editor, just extends xml editor with additional features and it appear in "open with..." sub-menu as "XML editor" entry. In the future versions we are planning to merge this XML editor feature with POM editor, so there won't be such confusion.

Isn't that this line:
org.maven.ide.eclipse.editor.xml (0.9.7.20081001-2217) "Maven POM XML
Editor" [Active]?

Your configuration details do say that you don't have pom editor installed, so it is consistent with what you see. When installing updates you need to make sure to use "install" and not "update" action in your Eclipse update manager.

I don't seem to have the POM Editor, despite having the plugin and what
appear to be all the dependencies installed. It does appear in the
Content
Types preferences dialog, but nowhere else. I searched the archives and
most
of the issues I saw were related to missing dependencies. Below are the
Features and Plugins sections of the Configuration Details.

Eclipse 3.3.3
m2eclipse 0.9.7

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
