Mahout used to be under Lucene. There are a few archives of this and other apache mailing lists. gmane, nabble, markmail have raw archives.
www.lucidimagination.com/search and search-lucene.com have comprehensive searchable archives of the Mahout project. These tools are wonderful additions to your search engine list. (I work at Lucid and have contributed to ours.)
