The book was written to the Maout 0.5 API and significant changes have
been made since. Most recently, in 0.7 the KMeans implementation was
rewritten to use the ClusterIterator and ClusterClassifier framework and
the old KMeansMapper, Reducer and Combiner were removed.

the org.apache.mahout.clustering.kmeans package anymore when checking out
the source from svn. Have they been relocated to another package ?
