Hi Paul, I'd look at Madalina's response with respect to the missing groups.
For the Metadata Adjuster, I know for a fact that this works. For any transformation connection, you need to insert it into the pipeline after you add your output connection. If you send me a screen shot of your pipeline (in the Connections tab), I can give you more precise directions.
