Did you specify a postgresql user name parameter in your global properties?
'When you execute the initialize script, does it create a new database with a new user?' Yes it does but you will need to supply the database superuser and super user password in the global properties in order for this to work. The order is as follows: (1) start zookeeper (2) change your global properties and upload them to zookeeper using setglobalproperties (3) run the initialize script (4) start all ManifoldCF services If you get an error at the initialize step, it's because you haven't configured your database connection/authorization parameters correctly.
